Exciting news! Did you know that Charlotte Victorie LeClerc Mentelle, a remarkable French woman who fled the French Revolution, opened Mentelle’s School for young ladies in Lexington, America? Mentelle taught social etiquette, literature, and even French to her students. One of her notable pupils was none other than Mary Ann Todd, who would go on to become Mary Todd Lincoln! Despite being considered eccentric by locals, Mentelle believed in equality and supported women’s education. Let’s celebrate the legacy of this incredible educator!
