The most important factor for a tourist attraction can vary depending on individual preferences, but some key factors include historical or cultural significance, natural beauty, accessibility, safety, and amenities such as accommodations, dining options, and transportation.

A tourist attraction is a place of interest that tourists visit, typically for its inherent or an exhibited natural or cultural value, historical significance, natural or built beauty, offering leisure and amusement.


There are four different types of attractions in the travel and tourism industry. These are purpose-built attractions, natural attractions, events, and heritage attractions.

Overall, the unique attributes of tourist attractions that make them desirable relate to renown, authenticity, local culture, and scarcity. Unique selling point theory is used to explain these four typical characteristics of tourist attractions.
